Margaret K. (Kraynak) McCartney

Margaret K. McCartney of Greenville formerly of Hadley, PA, passed away on Wednesday August 5, 2015 at 9:30 am at the UPMC Horizon, Greenville, PA.  She was 88.

She was born on October 8, 1926 in Sharon, PA to George and Anna (Demchak) Kraynak who had both immigrated to the United States from Czechoslovakia in the early 1900’s.  Margaret married Clair Arden McCartney on October 31, 1942 and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1966,

She was an Associate Member of the North Salem United Methodist Church, where she had served as the Communion Steward and had enjoyed singing in the church choir. She regularly attended the Prime Timers at the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church. Margaret was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan who never missed watching a game. She enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with her family. In addition to that, Margaret also had a great love for music, especially opera, and being outdoors.

Margaret is survived by her two sons, Arden (Betty Sankey) McCartney of Coraopolis, PA, and Troy McCartney (Karen Swartz) of Hadley, PA; three daughters, Karen (Rev. Robert Sadler) of Savannah, TN, Laurena (Renie) (Todd) Shipton of Greenville, PA, Tracy (Kenneth) Wedlake of Corfu, NY;  2 sisters, Mary Puhak of Sharon, PA and Anna Mae Kropar of West Middlesex PA; 8 grandchildren, Brent McCartney (Wendy), Maureen Linko (Paul), Adam McCartney (Mary), Kimberly Williams (Chris), Craig Augustine (Christy), Tiffany Shipton, Lindsay McCartney, and Jordan McCartney; 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair, a granddaughter Rebecca McCartney and a sister, Helen Palko.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 1:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with her son-in-law Rev. Robert Sadler officiating.  Friends and family are invited to call Friday, August 7, 2015, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm &, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  Calling hours on Saturday are from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with service immediately after at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.

The committal service and interment will follow at the Sheakleyville Cemetery.
