Viola M. Kaltenbaugh, Sandy Lake, Mill Creek Twp. passed away Friday afternoon, February 2, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 89.
She was born in Franklin on January 2, 1935, a daughter of the late A.D. and Gladys (Zerbe) Phenicie. On November 23, 1958, she married John A. “Skip” Kaltenbaugh who preceded her in death on June 25, 2008. Viola had been employed through the years at various nursing homes as a nurse's aide. She enjoyed doing crafts and painting and took great care and pride in tending to her floral gardens. She attended the Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church
She is survived by her children, Carol Sharp, Seneca, Cheryl Keely, Seneca, Jeff (Cindy) Kaltenbaugh, Sandy Lake, Doug Kaltenbaugh, Sandy Lake and Pam (Dave) Bem, Union City.; two sisters, Jane (Bert) Kiskadden, Cooperstown and Lucy Seefried, IN.; 8 grandchildren, Amy Reed, Crystal Perry, Jamie (Tim) Ault, Leah Kaltenbaugh, Brittney Kaltenbaugh, Justin Kaltenbaugh, Tyler Key and Ryan Key and 7 great-grandchildren, Gemma Perry, Oaklynn Perry and Laken Perry, Karina Ault, Ryker Ault, Braydan Rhoades, and Brantley Rhoades.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; several siblings; 2 grandchildren, Kathy Rhoades and Travis Rhoades, and a son-in-law, Mark Sharp.
The family will be privately honoring the life of Viola, with no services scheduled.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.
