Thomas Calawa Obituary

Thomas P. Calawa, Greenville, passed away Saturday afternoon at the UPMC-Jameson.  He was 79.
He was born in Nashua, NH on December 15, 1945, a son of the late Leon C. and Dorathy (Dugis) Calawa, Sr.  Thomas served honorably with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War as a lineman and communication specialist.  On September 25, 2017, he married his beloved wife the former Linda Nagy, who survives him. Thomas was a man of many talents, which were reflected in his successful career as a business owner, where he exhibited a keen eye for potential in purchasing oil fields for leasing.

Thomas's passion for cooking was well-known and appreciated by all who had the pleasure of tasting his culinary creations. His skills as a grill master led him to own two BBQ restaurants in Texas, where he delighted customers with his homemade BBQ sauce. Beyond his professional life, Thomas was an ordained minister, offering his services to marry friends and family in heartfelt ceremonies.

His adventurous spirit was not just a part of his personality but also an integral part of his life. Thomas was a professional bull rider, a testament to his courage and tenacity. The roar of his Harley was a familiar sound to those who knew him, with his wife Linda often seated behind him, sharing in the freedom of the open road.

Thomas’s hobbies were as diverse as his skills. He found joy in playing cards, watching baseball, and fishing. Each activity was more than just a pastime; they were opportunities for Thomas to connect with others. His service dog, "Ace," was a constant presence by his side, providing companionship and unwavering loyalty throughout his adventures and peaceful moments alike.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is surived by a son, Trey Calawa, TX; 6 stepchilden, Preston, VA , Tarra, and Ty,, of TX, Ashley Lynn, Transfer, Crystal Elizabeth, West Middlesex and Lydia Rose, Hermitage and a grandson, Micheal.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
