Rev. Steve Letonek, Jr. formerly of Hadley (Sandy Creek Twp.) passed away Thursday evening, January 23, 2020 at the Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, Meadville. He was 88.
Steve was born in Nellis, WV. On February 24, 1931 a son of the late Steve and Josephine (Grego) Letonek, Sr. On May 29, 1952 he married his wife of 63 years, the former, Helen F. Johnson who preceded him in death on November 20, 2015.
Rev. Letonek, was affiliated with the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection and had been the pastor of the West Fairfield Wesleyan Methodist Church, Cochranton, where he began his ministry in 1955. Throughout the years, Rev. Letonek possessed a strong work ethic and was a working pastor, having been employed at the former Westinghouse Electric, Sharon and was a night baker at the former Lean’s Bakery, Greenville. He and his wife had assumed responsivities of the organization meetings and maintenance of the Good Hope Cemetery, West Salem Twp.
He is survived by a daughter, Teresa I. Ford, Fairbanks, Alaska; twin sons, Marcus Letonek and his wife Lisa, Stoneboro and Marshall Letonek and his wife Nancy, Grove City; a sister, Virginia Irvine, Bythwood, SC.; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant sister and a son in law Jeff Ford.
The funeral service will on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. David Blowers, Rev. William Cope and Rev. Harold Troyer, co officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Good Hope Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
