Shirley A. Kasbee, of Coolspring Twp., Mercer, formerly of Fredonia passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Avalon Springs Care Center. She was 90.
Shirley was born on December 8, 1934, in Clearville, PA a daughter of the late Charles and Iva (Weimer) Morris. She married John S. Kasbee Jr. on May 20,1961, and he preceded her in death on February 22, 2000, having celebrated 38 years of marriage.
Shirley was a homesteader in the truest sense, an active business partner working on the family farm and excavating business. Shirley took pride in baking, cooking, canning, and even making her children’s clothes. A 1953 graduate of the former Fredonia Delaware High school. She was a licensed beautician, operating a beauty shop from her home, then going on to be employed by the former Mercer County Home, where she was delegated many responsibilities due to her extensive knowledge in not only management but also maintenance. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and an active member of the Fredonia Presbyterian Church. She loved people and had a significant impact on all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicki (Marty) Miller of Transfer, Brian (Melanie) Kasbee of Greenville, Gary (Kimberly) Kasbee of Stoneboro and Troy (Colleen) Kasbee, Fredonia; ten grandchildren, Chauntel (Ben) Dunham, Cody Kasbee, and his girlfriend, Mackenzie, Bailey Kasbee and her fiancé, Devin Weaver, Lyndsey Langley, Ross Langley, Ethan Kasbee and his fiancée Lindsey Melon, Johnny Gilmore, Tyler (Grace) Miller, Kegan (Brooke) Miller, and Riley (Carlin) Miller; eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Norma (Chub) Eddy, and a brother, Myron (Babe) Morris.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, Water Street, Fredonia, with Rev. Eric Peters, pastor of the church, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Delaware Cemetery. The visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00am-12:00 pm time of service.
