Salvatore Samuel "Sam" Consiglio, Greenville passed away at 4:35 am on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Grove of Greenville where he had been a resident. He was 96.
He was born in Greenville on July 7, 1923 a son of the late Samuel and Anna (Catalana) Consiglio. He had been employed with the former Greenville Steel Car and then enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 having served on the USS Almaack and the USS Bennington during WW II. Following his honorable discharge from the US Navy, Sam returned to Greenville and resumed his employment as a rivit sticker at the Greenville Steel Car from which he had retired. Following his retirement he was a delivery driver for the former Lean’s Bakery, Greenville.
He was a member of the St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, a life member of the Greenville ICC and the Greenville VFW Post 3374.
He is survived by his loving companion of over 40 years, Antoinette Donahue, a sister in law, Evelyn Consiglio, Media, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; three brothers, Guy Consiglio, Frank Consiglio and Joseph Consiglio; three sisters, Elizabeth Sellers, Marina “Marie” Fiordelise, Rosalie Huya.
At the request of Sam, no services are being held. He will be laid to rest at the St. Michael's Roman Catholic Cemetery next to his mother and father.
