Ruth Ellen Alexander Clark of Stoneboro, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, with her family around her.
Ruth was born at home on January 3, 1937, in Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania to James Baskin and Elsie Marie (Gantz) Alexander.
She is a 1954 graduate of Stoneboro High School. Ruth married Howard Leroy Clark on December 2, 1955, and had five sons. Ruthie loved and was devoted to her family. She was member of the Oak Grove Church in Fairview Township where she was part of the blanket ministry, women’s prayer group, and secret sisters. She continued the family tradition of making the communion bread and helping in many other ways. Ruth enjoyed the work she did for 59 years at CIT, Hadley, Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her five sons, Richard Clark, West Middlesex, Larry Clark, Sandy Lake, William (Cheryl) Clark, Stoneboro, Kenneth Clark, Colorado, and Dennis (Lorrie) Clark, Mercer; her niece/daughter, Linda (Dan) Danckwerth, Maryland; a brother, Elton Alexander, Greenville; 17 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Elsie Alexander and stepfather Levi Duck; her husband Howard; her brother, James Alexander and three sisters, Helen Rose, Bonnie Riggs and Sandy Fox; three sisters in law, Evelyn Alexander, Patty Alexander and Jean Alexander; three brothers in law, Darrell Rose, Tom Riggs Sr. and Gary Fox; two daughters in law, Leslie Clark and Nancy Clark.
The memories of our mom will be loving, of our sister will be dear, our auntie will be treasured, it was an honor to have known her, to have loved her and to have had her in our lives. She will be cherished and missed.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Oak Grove Church, 16 Oak Grove Rd., Mercer. Friends may call on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4:00-7:00pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 169 Second St., Fredonia and on Saturday at the church from 10:00-11:00am time of service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Oak Grove Cemetery.
