Royal J. Grossman, Union Twp., Meadville passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side Thursday morning, February 11, 2021. He was 94.
He was born in Slippery Rock on June 10, 1926, a son of the late Roy Benjamin and Florence (Bryson) Grossman. On January 19, 1949 he married the former Ella Mae Scott who preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 2007. Mr. Grossman was employed by the Steam Fitter’s Union Local # 11 from which he had retired. He was a US Army veteran having dutifully served his country during WW II. He was a member of the Mumford Chapel and the American Legion Post 111. He was an avid golfer, having last golfed in November of 2020 and through his lifetime he proudly achieved three holes in one.
He is survived by his two sons, Jack Grossman and his wife Freeda, New Castle and Ron Grossman and his wife Carla, Cochranton; a sister, Isabelle Watson and her husband Pete, Slippery Rock; 4 grandchildren, Benjamin Scott (Melissa) Grossman, Daniel Lawrence Peters, Ryan (Kim) Grossman and Chelcie (Najee) Easley and two great granddaughters, Ella Lee Grossman and Ava Mae Easley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson, Ricky Peters, 2 brothers’ Bob and Bill and 5 sisters, Dorothy, Virginia, Evelyn, Mabel and Marge.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, February, 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyvillle. Mr. Grossman will be laid to rest with military honors next to his wife at the Hadley Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 - 4 :00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00- 11:00 am. The funeral will be lived streamed at www.snyderfh.com.
