Roger A. Stallsmith, formerly of Meadville and Hadley, Deer Creek Twp. passed away Saturday evening, December 20, 2025, at the Rolling Field Elder Care Facility, Conneautville. He was 88.
He was born in Geneva on June 10, 1937, a son of the late George and Madge (Martin) Stallsmith. On September 2, 1961, he married the former Nancy L. Palm, who preceded him in death on August 27, 2009. Roger had begun his working career at the former Greenville Steel Car. He then went on to be employed by the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, Meadville, which later became known as Conrail. He then transferred to the Conrail Railroad in Lordstown, Ohio, from where he retired. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Meadville.
Roger was an avid fisherman with a particular passion for ice fishing. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, and making wine. He was well known in the area for his wine-making ability.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jodi Shood (Roger), Boardman, OH, and Scott Stallsmith, Meadville; a brother, Edwin Stallsmith (Linda), Meadville; a granddaughter, Ashley Martin, and a great-grandson, Parker Martin, and many nieces and nephews and friends who had visited and assisted with Roger’s care.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Ronald, Gerald, and Marilyn Stallsmith.
The Celebration of Life service for Roger will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Meadville Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses,15315 Harmonsburg Road, Meadville, PA 16335, the service can also be viewed on Zoom with a Meeting ID: 2669753515 (Password: 717258)
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.
