Robert "Bobby" Guthrie Obituary

Robert "Bobby" L. Guthrie, formerly of Hadley and Greenville, passed away Monday morning, May 4, 2026, at Meadville Medical Center. He was 71.

He was born in Meadville on November 16, 1954, a son of the late Robert Earl and Margaret B. (Staudt) Guthrie. He attended Commodore Perry High School.

Bobby, as he was known to family and friends, was a familiar and friendly presence in the Greenville community. He loved walking and could often be seen making his way several times a day to Paxton’s Restaurant and the Greenville Dinor, where he enjoyed a cup of coffee and spending time socializing with his many friends.

He took pride in mowing lawns around Greenville and was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors, especially during hay baling season. Bobby had a knack for tinkering and especially enjoyed working on watches. He also liked thrift shopping and cherished traveling with his mother and stepfather to Florida, where he spent the winter months.

In addition, he enjoyed horseback riding and dancing and happily participated in the Greenville Community Night to Shine events.

He is survived by his siblings, Donald (Judy) Guthrie of Clarks Mills, Anne Cryder and her companion, Thomas “Ace” Hanzes, of Greenville, and Alan (Jacki) Guthrie of Greenville; his nieces and nephews, Jason (Kristin) Guthrie of Clarks Mills, Jennifer Smith and her companion, Eric Padin, of Franklin, Michael Feltenberger of Cambridge Springs, Jonathon Guthrie of Ellwood City, Bradley Guthrie of Ellwood City, Melissa Miller and her fiancé, Darryl Wilson, of Greenville, and Sean (Jocelyn) Miller of Mt. Vernon, TX; along with many aunts, uncles, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, a special friend, Christine Vernon and extended family who loved and adored him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, John Sommerfeld; very special friend, Jack Vernon; his paternal grandparents, John Earl Guthrie, Mary and Norman Bestwick; and his maternal grandparents, John and Marie Staudt.

A funeral service celebrating Bobby’s life will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Robert L.
