Robert C. Gahring, Franklin Twp, Butler passed away early Tuesday morning, June 4, 2024, at the Villas at St. Paul’s Senior Living, Greenville. He was 79.
Robert was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 13, 1945, a son of the late Russell L. and Carol (Harrison) Gahring. He served honorably with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and had been employed with Verizon as a cable technitian from where he retired after 30 years of service. On April 17, 1971, he married the former Barbara L. Malak who survives. Bob’s favorite activity was enjoying the summer months at their summer home on Conneaut Lake, appreciating all the area had to offer.
In addition to his wife Babara, he is survived by three sons, Brian Gahring and his wife Megan, Butler, Brandon Gahring and his life partner, Jennifer Haldin, Butler and Benjamin Gahring and his wife, Christina Wong, M.D., Greenville; two sisters, Judith Mizner, NJ, and Vivian Lay and her husband Steven, NJ. Three grandchildren, Sydney Gahring, Jesse Gahring, and John Gahring.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be laid to rest with military honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017 with a memorial service to be held at the cemetery on July 15, 2024 at 1:30 PM.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.
