Norborne "Bob" Eugene Spottswood, Jr.

HMCS(SW) Norborne "Bob" Eugene Spottswood Jr. passed away on April 24, 2025, at Naval Medical Center San Diego, California. He was born on March 9, 1954, to Norborne Eugene Spottswood Sr. and Delores W. Spottswood.

Bob enlisted in the United States Navy on July 19, 1973, beginning his service as a Deck Seaman before advancing through Hospital Corps School in July 1974 and Independent Hospital Corps School in June 1985. In October 1993, he was proudly pinned as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. Over his distinguished military career, he received numerous honors, including seven Good Conduct Medals, three Navy Achievement Medals, five Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy Unit Commendations, the Humanitarian Service Medal, Coast Guard Unit Commendation Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, Enlisted Surface Warfare Insignia, five Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, and many others. After 29 years of honorable service, he retired from the Navy on September 30, 2001.

Following his military service, Bob worked for Sycuan Casino for 18 years as the Communication Manager.

He is remembered with love by his wife Melinda Jo Spottswood; son Stephen Gerald Spottswood; stepson Scott A. Liese and his wife Rebekah; stepdaughter Danielle E. Liese; grandchildren Logan, Aalina, Braydon, Cameron, and Kaylee; sisters Adreane and Stephanie; brother Terry; and his best friend Alfred R. Romero.

Bob had a deep love for baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, and cherished attending Padres games with his friend Terry.  He enjoyed walking through swap meets and farmers markets and had a passion for cooking—always experimenting with new recipes.

 The Funeral Service will be held on May 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Robert L Snyder Funeral Home 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. Ken Saul, officiating,  He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the Sheakleyville Cemetery  The visitation will be  1200 PM  to 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
