Martin Thomas “Tom” Kristyak, Fredonia passed away Tuesday morning at his residence following a period of declining health. He was 91.
He was born in Springfield Twp. on October 1, 1932, a son of the late Martin C. and Helen (Panning) Kristyak. On February 22, 1996, he married the former Mary Lou Ziegler who survives, Tom as he was known to his family and friends, had a passion and talent for building stock cars. The cars that he built were raced at the local tracks for many years and driven by his brother, Mike, and son Tommy. He owned and operated several gas stations in Mercer, with the last owned station in Sandy Lake. For many years he also drove truck and was proud to have a perfect driving record.
In addition to his wife, Mary Lou, he is survived by his children, Betty (Robert) Carr, Jamestown, Thomas (Tania) Kristyak, Stoneboro and Amy (Mark) Ryczko, Westerville, OH; stepsons, Norman, Robert and Steven Zeigler, of Greenville and Thomas Ziegler, Bear Creek, NC; a stepdaughter, Barbara Bartly, Benson, NC; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Campbell, Stoneboro, Kari Safran, Ormond Beach, FL., Jennifer (Matt) Ekland, Mount Pleasant, SC, Brad (Sarah) Ryczko, Lexington, KY and Bryan (Katie) Rycsko, Dublin, OH; 7 great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Kayla, Kristine, Kylee, Jenna, Juniper and Theodore; 5 great great grandchildren, George, JT, Quinn, Carlee and Elaina; his brother, Michael (Mary Jo) Kristyak; two sisters, Joanne Sasse and Edith Dunwoody and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Rose Marie (Goltare), infant son, Kenneth; 3 brothers, John David Frederick and an unnamed infant and 4 sisters, Mary Jane Smock, Helen Woodard, Marjorie Cramer, and infant Arvilla.
The family will be privately honoring the life of Tom.
