Margaret Anne (Peggy) McWhirter Fry Cochran a resident at the Ridgewood at St. Paul’s Home, Greenville went to be with the Lord early Monday morning, June 6, 2022. She was 80.
She was born in Mercer on July 4, 1941, a daughter of the late John Howard and Helen Henrietta (Steen) McWhirter. She was a 1959 graduate of West Middlesex High School where she received the Home Economics award, the waitress club award, and the future homemaker of America award. On May 22, 1981, she married Lawrence Earl Cochran and he preceded her in death on June 4, 2015.
Peggy had been employed at several school cafeterias and restaurants, she was the head cook at Lorena Elementary School, Lorena, TX, made pies and cookies for Black’s Bakery, Seneca and had been a caregiver. She enjoyed cooking and baking for the terminally ill. She is known for her pies and cookies. She enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, gardening, cooking, baking and simply just helping others.
Peggy is survived by he daughter, Brenda Sue Pratschler, Minneola, FL; a brother, William Scott McWhirter; a granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Walker and two grandchildren, Rex Edmund Simmons and Stella Rose Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence; a brother, James Edward McWhirter and a sister, Mary Lois Wallace.
Respecting the wishes of Peggy, no services will be held, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Cranberry Twp.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyvillle.
