Larry Wade Stallsmith

January 4, 1938 ~ June 27, 2023 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Obituary

Larry Wade Stallsmith of Corpus Christi, TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus on Tuesday afternoon June 27, 2023.  He was 85.

Larry was born in Cochranton, PA   on January 4, 1938, the first son of Joe and Elsie Stallsmith.  He accepted Jesus as his savior in his teenage years. He attended Grove City College where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering in 1960.  After that he worked for Chicago Pneumatic Tool in Franklin, PA for 20 years. In the summer of 1980 he moved to Corpus Christi, TX where he worked for Energy Industries (although the company’s official name changed many times) until he retired in 2001.  As Larry told the chaplain before his surgery, “I worked with the same compressors my entire career.  I sat at the same desk but changed business cards every few years.”

Larry married his childhood sweetheart Mary on June 17, 1960, and they had 3 children.  Family was so important to Larry.  Some of his favorite times were enjoying vacations with the whole family, attending family weddings, and visiting his children and grandchildren in their homes.

Larry also loved the church, and he served it well.  He and Mary counseled many couples in their marriages, and he was a mentor to countless men.  He also served as Sunday School teacher, deacon, and elder in his church. Through these ministries, he inspired people and spoke truth in love to them.

Larry loved Jesus with all his heart, and because of this he was able to love Mary, his family, his church, and his friends well.  He would encourage you to do the same.

Larry leaves behind his beloved wife Mary of 63 years, 3 children: Beth Usnick and her husband Frank of Bryan, TX, Bob Stallsmith and his wife Roena of Garland, TX, Becky Lenart and her husband Mark of Carrollton, VA, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers: Phil Stallsmith of Gosport, IN and Neil Stallsmith of Sheakleyville, PA

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.  Private family graveside services will follow at the Sheakleyville Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.snyderfh.com
