Kristie S. (Leonard) King

Kristie S. King of Sheakleyville passed away early Thursday morning, December 12, 2024, at UPMC-Jameson, New Castle. She was 57.

Kristie was born in Greenville on August 29, 1967, a daughter of the late James and Peggy (Brown) Leonard. On May 18, 2013, she married Jason D. King, and together they built a life filled with joy and mutual support.  She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1985 and continued her education by studying behavior science at Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa.  Kristie's professional life was as varied as it was impactful. She worked with compassion and leadership as a supervisor at MCAR (the Ark of Mercer County), provided care and support through DON Services in New Castle, and also was employed by Walmart and ITV International Timber and Veneer in Jackson Center. Yet, Kristie's role as a devoted wife and mother stood paramount above all her professional achievements. Her recent joy was embracing the role of grandmother to her beloved grandson, Kashius,

She is survived by her husband, Jason; three children, Courtney Purdy, Pittsburgh, Nicholas Himes, Sheakleyville, and Kadin King, Sheakleyville; a sister, Robyn (Richard) Lugg, Greenville; and a very special grandson, Kashius Purdy, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Kristie's memory during a visitation on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville. Following the visitation, a celebration of Kristie's life will commence at the funeral home at 5:00 PM. Rev. Eric M. Peters, pastor of the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, officiating.
