Joyce Elaine Hays of Girard, PA, formerly of Meadville and Atlantic, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 12, 2025, at the Pleasant Ridge Manor, Girard. She was 72.
She was born on January 1, 1953 in Geneva, the daughter of the late Samuel and Leora (Turner) Hays.
Joyce was a diligent worker who spent many years contributing to various local industries. Her nurturing nature led her to also serve as a caregiver for the disabled, a role in which she provided not just assistance but also warmth and companionship. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her love for her family, which remained her greatest joy and priority throughout her life.
Surviving Joyce are her sons, Jason Shuffstall of Seneca, and Nathan Hays (and his wife Lori) of Lake City. Her legacy continues through her two cherished granddaughters, Kailee and Aubrie Hays, by her sisters, Elizabeth Woodcock (and her husband Howard) of Meadville, and Eleanor Free (and her husband Jack) of Burghill, OH; as well as her brother, John Hays of Atlantic.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son, and her siblings Beverly McCord, Mary Lee Swope, Leora "Katie" Aikens, David Hays, James Hays, Richard Hays, Robert Hays, Albert Hays, and Dale Hays.
A service to celebrate Joyce's life will be conducted by Pastor Micheal Holley of the Clarks Mills Community Church. The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to gather and share memories from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Joyce will be laid to rest with committal prayers at the Greenfield Cemetery, where she will be interred alongside generations of her family.
