John W. Lackey, Stoneboro, New Vernon Twp. passed away Monday evening, October 6, 2025, at Orchard Manor, Grove City. He was 100 years old.
John was born in New Vernon Twp. on July 28, 1925, a son of the late Ira Cutler and Anna (Bachop) Lackey. On November 16, 1946, he married the former Elvirda Belle Griffin, and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2015. He was a lifelong farmer, had been employed by the former Westinghouse Electric in Sharon and was a school bus contractor for the Lakeview School District for many years. Mr. Lackey was a long-standing member of the New Vernon Grange and the Sandy Lake IOOF Lodge for over 80 years, and a member of the Clarks Mills Community Church.
He is survived by three sons, William (Dorothy) Lackey of Hadley, Raymond (Virginia) Lackey of Caledonia, MI, and Donald (Deborah) Lackey of Stoneboro; a daughter-in-law, Ann Lackey of Hadley; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 68 years, a son, Larry Lackey, a sister, Evaline Packard, two infant daughters, and an infant grandson.
Respecting the wishes of Mr. Lackey, there will be no service; he will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Stoneboro. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.snyderfh.com
