John M Gardill

John M. Gardill Jr., of Delaware Twp. Fredonia, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023. He was 85. 

John was born in Pittsburgh on November 16, 1937, a son of the late Dr. John M. and Liebetha (Meuschke) Gardill Sr. He married the former Claudia Musgrove on December 16, 1970. 

John worked as a fork truck operator at Westinghouse in Transfer, as well as his families’ farm in Fredonia. He attended St. Marks United Church of Christ in Hamburg, PA. John loved desserts; he had a big sweet tooth. He enjoyed camping and fishing, farming and watching the Steelers. He also liked watching games shows, bull riding and any football game.  

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Claudia; his children, a son, John “Mike” Gardill, III and wife Joan, a daughter, Shelli Fordyce and husband Tom, and a step daughter, Anita Wagner and husband Jeff, all of Fredonia; six grandchildren, Candice, John, Megan, Kelcy, Justin, and Jenna; and two great grandchildren, Callan and Conley. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sherri Gardill, and a brother, Charles Gardill. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 4pm at the Fredonia Methodist Church, 12 Liberty St., Fredonia, with a meal to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fredonia Fire Department, P.O. Box 244, Fredonia, PA, 16124.
