John Bell, III Obituary

John A. Bell, III, Hadley (Sandy Creek Twp.) passed away Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2022 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side.  He was 80.

He was born in Pittsburgh on June 7, 1942,  a son of the late John Austin and Betty Jane (Pruss) Bell, Jr.  He had attended the former Avalon High School class of 1960 and went on to honorably serve with the US Air Force.  On July 24, 1964, he married the former Marcia A. Koehl, who survives and together would soon have been celebrating 58 years of marriage.              

Mr. Bell began his working career working at the first McDonald’s restaurant in Pittsburgh, he then went onto work for Duquesne Light in the maintenance department and later as a line inspector.  In 1974 he relocated his family to the Hadley area where he began dairy farming on the family farm from 1974 – 1995.  In 1995 he went on to work at the former Trinity Industries, Greenville and later at the Greenville Medical Center maintenance department from where he retired in 2012.

John appreciated classic cars, enjoyed attending cars shows and tractor pulls, he took great pride in maintaining his property and enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Remi “Brittany” who could always be found by his side.

In addition to his wife Marcia, he is survived by his children, John A. Bell, IV and his wife Kelly of Hadley and Megan M. Schreiber and her husband Aaron of Greenville; a brother James W. Bell and his wife Roni Sue of Pittsburgh; 6 grandchildren, Jake Bell, Ashley Bell, Allana (Peter) Jaussen, Brett Schreiber, Alyssa Schreiber and Carly “Chuck" Schreiber.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, John A. Bell, V.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to Strayhaven, 94 Donation Road, Greenville, PA 16125
