Joanne Werger Obituary

Joanne L. Werger, Coal Hill Road, Greenville passed away peacefully at 3:05 am on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Sharon Regional Medical Center.  She was 80.

She was born on Nov. 26, 1939 in Mercer, a daughter of the late Howard Leroy and Alice Lovina (Davis) Struble.  She married Raymond William Werger on Nov. 9, 1973 and he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 2017.

Joanne was a graduate of Mercer High School, she then went onto Business School and had been employed as a secretary for Mercer High School until 1975 when she became a homemaker, farm wife and mother.  Later in life she returned to work at Adesa in Jackson Center and was a bus driver for Andersons, Greenville driving for the Reynolds School District and for Coulter’s Transportation, Hermitage driving for the Hickory School District.

She was a member of the Pomona Grange, Pa. State Grange, West Salem Grange, Mercer County  Dairy Princess, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Mercer County Grange Fair Board.  She also was a member of the Big Bend United Methodist Church and a former member of the Blacktown United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Werger enjoyed genealogy, craft shows, reading, canning, listening to local high school sports, polka music and talking to her many friends. She loved hearing about her grandchildren’s sporting events and their daily activities.

She is survived by three daughters, Anita Woods and her husband Blaine, Greenville, Diana Lazzar and her husband David, Clarks Mills, Lisa Hernandez and her husband Gerardo, West Salem Twp.; one son, Arthur Werger and his wife Lucy, West Salem Twp.; Six grandsons, David Woods, Garin Hernandez, Wyatt Lazzar, Gerardo Hernandez, Hoyt Lazzar, Maddox Werger; two granddaughters, Raya Hernandez and Lyla Werger and one grandpup, Casey; One sister, Dorothy Daher, Portland OR.; one sister in law, Brenda Owen and her husband Oliver, Myrtle Beach,  SC.; three nieces Kris Daher, Santa Fe, NM,Sherri Struble, Lynchburg, VA and Carol Jones, Olive Branch, MS; Two nephews, Jeff Daher, Seatle WA. and Kevin Struble, Lynchburg, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Alice Struble, her husband of 43 years, Raymond Werger; a brother John Struble and a grandson Zayden Hernandez.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles D’Auria and his staff and her home caretakers for the wonderful care provided over the years. 

Family and friends may call at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 8 at 11:00 am at the Big Bend United Methodist Church.2665 Valley Road, Mercer.  She will be laid to rest at the Mount Washington Cemetery.  Memories and condolences may be shared with  the family online at www.snyderfh.com.
