Joan L. Ringer, of Fredonia, Delaware Twp., passed peacefully early Monday morning, December 2, 2024, at the AHN in Grove City. She was 91.
She was born on December 6, 1932, the daughter of the late Clyde C. and Marjorie (Slater) Anderson. On August 31, 1952, she married William H. Ringer, Sr., who preceded her in death on December 16, 2016; together, they raised a family and tended to their beef farm. Mrs. Ringer worked for many years as the Reynolds School District cafeteria manager and previously as a keypunch operator at the former Westinghouse. She was a member of the Fredonia United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and was involved with the vacation Bible school programs. When her children were younger, she was active in the local scouting organizations. Joan was a member of the Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Ringer, Fredonia, William H. “Tex” (Sue) Ringer, Jr., Fredonia and Sherry (Van) Valimont, Fredonia; a son-in-law, Thomas Hanna, Fredonia, a daughter-in-law, Cathy Ringer, Fredonia; five sisters, Ina Cadman, Greenville, Marjorie Anderson, Bradenton, FL, Patsy Munnell, Hermitage, Carol Seidle, Fredonia, and Mary Jane (Thomas) Shearer, Fredonia. Seven grandchildren, Janice (Ronnie) Boyd, Fredonia, Justin (Veronica), Valimont, Pittsburgh, Will (Jamie) Ringer, Hubbard, OH, Samantha (Adam) Plance, New Kensington, Maggie (Kyle) Woods, Fredonia, Eugene Ringer, Fredonia and Ella Valimont, Fredonia.
Mrs. Ringer was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, John L. Ringer, a daughter, Mary Ann Hanna, a brother, Clifford L. “Bud” Anderson, and three sisters, Evelyn Musgrove Loma McClure and Dorothy Osborn.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Fredonia United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Fredonia, with Rev. Tina Keller, pastor of the church, officiating. She will be laid to rest with committal prayers next to her husband at the Millbank Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 169 Second Street, Fredonia, and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the church.
