Jaqueline L. “Jackie” Rough, Meadville, Vernon Twp., passed away early Monday morning, December 5, 2022, at her residence. She was 83.
She was born in Oil City on May 22, 1939, a daughter of the late David and Helen (Colburn) Roberts. On September 20, 1958, she married Frank D. Rough who survives. Jackie was a homemaker who had also done janitorial work at her church and also at Vernon Central Hose Company, both organizations that Jackie actively participated. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, Meadville where she had been a Sunday School teacher, in charge of the nursery, a volunteer for the soup kitchen, served as a Deacon, and always looked forward to the weekly ARC outreach ministry where she enjoyed the time she was able to be with the children. As a member of the Vernon Central Hose Company’s ladies’ Auxiliary, she could always be found helping with the fundraising activities and was currently serving as a Trustee. Anyone who knows Jackie was familiar with the smile that she always had, she is remembered as a very sweet and caring person always willing to lend a hand. Her greatest joy and love was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Frank; a daughter, Lisa (Rob) Shoemaker, Irons, MI; a daughter-in-law, Robin L. Rough, Lakeland, FL.; a brother, John Roberts, Oil City; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Burke, Lima, OH, Kayla Pope, Plainsfield, OH, Steve (Leslie) Rough, Lexington, SC, and Travis W. McConnaghy, Erie and 2 great-grandchildren, Annabelle Rough and Alicen Eaglehouse and a very special best friend, Ginny Grippi.
