Janet R. Cessna, Fredonia, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 18, 2025, at the Greystone Country Estates.  She was 82.

She was born in Baltimore, MD, on December 3, 1942, a daughter of the late Myron and Janet (Diehl) Horton.  On August 30, 1960, she married George Cessna, who preceded her in death on February 17, 1997.  She was a homemaker and had been employed by Greenville Hospital in the housekeeping department, from where she retired.  She was an active member of Zion’s United Church of Christ, Transfer, and a member of the New Hamburg Countryside Garden Club and the Reynold VFW Post # 7599 Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed travelling the United States with her companion of 27 years, Daniel Walters. Together, they had toured the country and Canada in their RV, having travelled to the West Coast three times. They enjoyed spending the winter months in their home in Florida, where she loved watching the sunsets.

In addition to her companion, Dan Walters, Fredonia, she is survived by her children, Celeste Prezioso (Michael), Williamsburg, VA, and Edwin Cessna (Michele), Parma Heights, OH; a nephew who was raised by Janet, Buddy Burns, NC.  Nine grandchildren: Angela Sumner (Mark), Leah Moulton (Greg), Michael T. Prezioso (Katherine), Nicolas Cessna, Joseph Cessna, Anthony Cessna, Gina Cessna, Vincent Cessna, and Angelo Cessna; five great-grandchildren. Elizabeth Sumner, Benedict Prezioso, Peter Prezioso, Thomas Prezioso and Madelyn Moulton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, and three siblings, Sheila Burns, Marnie Fields, and Blaine Horton.

A Celebration of Janet’s life will be held at Zion’s United Church of Christ, 17 Church Street, Transfer, PA, at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 22, 2025

The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers that memorial tributes may be made to the Zion's United Church of Christ, Transfer, PA..

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 169 Second Street, Fredonia.
