James Wolford Obituary

James W. Wolford, 57, of Greenville, PA passed away suddenly on April 21st, 2026.

He was born on November 26th, 1968, to Patricia A. Thompson (Kelley) and the late James R. Wolford, Jim left this world knowing that he would be joining loved ones in Heaven.

Jim was a member of the Greenville Elks Club and attended Jerusalem Christian Church. He was a 1987 graduate of both Greenville High School and the Mercer County Career Center’s Culinary program.

Jim married Michelle L. (Anthony) Wolford on June 13th, 1992, and they enjoyed thirty-three years of adventures together. They raised two daughters and had three grandchildren. Jim had a lot of titles in his life, but the biggest ones, the ones he cherished most, were: husband, dad, papa, and friend. The best thing Jim and Michelle ever did for their children was build a support system strong enough to last decades. They have been surrounded by friends who have become family, and family who are better than anyone could ask for.

Jim was employed at Keystone Charter School, where he was the Kitchen Coordinator in title, but in practice, much more than that. He worked at various other places in his life but Keystone was the one he was most proud of, and where he made an immeasurable impact on both students and staff just by being himself. His incredible sense of humor, quick wit, and empathy towards those who needed it most will be missed by countless people.

Jim spent his spare time camping with his wife and grandchildren, going for side-by-side rides, landscaping his yard, chasing after his grandchildren, heading to bear camp with his “hunting” buddies, and spending quality time with family and friends. What Jim was most known for, however, was his unwavering kindness and dedication to leaving this world a little better than he found it. When someone he loved needed help it was never a question of “if” he would be there, but “when”. Whether you needed to be hauled out of a ditch, someone to talk to, a coffee partner, a kitchen hand for a benefit, a ride home, or literally anything else, Jim was there.

Jim is survived by his wife Michelle, daughters Katelyn R. Wolford and Lauren M. McCool (Brady), grandchildren Marleigh R. Wolford, Ethan N. McCool, Karson C. McCool, his mother Patricia Thompson and second dad Richard Thompson, sister Rhonda Lumley (Denny), and many others who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Wolford.

In lieu of memorial contributions, please consider doing something kind for someone else in his honor. He can’t buy dinner for people eating alone in restaurants, volunteer for kitchen duty, or perform one of his many other random acts of kindness anymore, but we can.

Calling Hours will be held at the Fredonia branch of the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home in Fredonia, PA, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00, and the funeral service will take place on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 1:00 with Pastor Jerry McCloskey of the Jerusalem Christian Church officiating.  Jim will be laid to rest at the Hadley Cemetery.
