James E. Stritzinger, Sr. Atlantic (Greenwood Twp.) passed away Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2023, in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. He was 82.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 27, 1941, a son of the late Fred Jacob and Flossie Florence (Briford) Stritzinger. On March 3, 1960, he married the former Mabel M. Schmitt, who survives. Mr. Stritzinger was a lifelong logger, who always enjoyed being in the woods, he also had been self-employed in the auto body repair business. He enjoyed his daily travels around the igloo area and was affectionately referred to as the “Mayor” of the Igloos.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, Mabel, are his children, Denise “Dee” Thompson, Atlantic, Matthew (Colleen) Stritzinger, Apollo, James E. Stritzinger, Sr., Cochranton, Fred J. (Monica) Stritzinger, Meadville, Daveen (Mark) Holler, Harmane, TN, Ulf O. Stritzinger, Hadley and Nathaniel “Nate” ((Nadene) Stritzinger, Atlantic; a sister, Patricia Rothmeyer, Glenshaw, P; 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the family cemetery on A Road, Atlantic (Greenwood Twp.) with Rev. Bruce Davis, retired officiating.
