James Munnell Obituary

James C, Munnell, Fredonia, (Delaware Twp.) passed away Sunday evening, April 18, 2021 at the Villa’s at St. Paul’s Home.  He was 93.

He was born in Mercer, PA on February 22, 1928 a son of the late Clifford and Francis (King) Munnell.  On October 24, 1948 he married the former Patsy A. Anderson who survives.  Jim had been employed by Tennessee Gas Company having worked in various locations and retired after 33 years of service.  He was a member of the Fredonia United Methodist Church, The Harthegig Conservation Club, the Fredonia Lions Club and the Olive Masonic Lodge # 575, Sherman, NY.  He enjoyed outdoor activities, hunting, gardening, water skiing, snow skiing and the many family vacation over the years and also travelling with his wife.  In his younger years he was an avid basketball player.  Jim, never met a stranger and enjoyed watching rodeos.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy; three daughters, Vicky (Ed) Marstellar, Fredonia, Jamie (Kevin) Currier-Dix, Phoenix, NY and Pamela (Tom) Sutton, Eden, NY; a son-in-law, David Hinsdale, Clymer, NY; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Munnell, LaFayette, NY a sister, Viola Harpst, Fredonia; 15 grandchildren, Jay Marstellar, Bret Marstellar, Kristin Morrison, Alyssa Currier, Lyndsay Cheely, Joshua Dix, Katie Backus, Adam Dix, Irem Dix, Jordan Fritz, Kendelle Bernardi, Mia Sikkema, Melanie Kalisz, Sarah Ross and Joshua Munnell; 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren..

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sue Ann Hinsdale; a son, James C. Munnell, Jr. and 2 brothers, William and Gaylord Munnell.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia.  Private family services will be held on Sunday with Jim being laid to rest at the Millbank Cemetery.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.snyderfh.com.

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made in Jim’s name to The Fredonia Lions Club, The Fredonia United Methodist Church or to the Harthegig Conservation Club.
