James Dillon Obituary

James R. Dillon, 63, of Pittsburgh, passed away early Thursday morning, March 19, 2026, at UPMC Shadyside following a brief illness.

He was born on February 16, 1963, in Grove City, Pennsylvania, a son of the late William R. Dillon, Sr. and Dorothy L. (Prop) Dillon.

Jim spent most of his career working as a chef, beginning at the Iron Bridge, Mercer. After relocating to Pittsburgh, he continued his culinary career at several upscale restaurants. Most recently, he was employed as an associate with Home Depot.

Left to cherish his memory are his companion, Tiffany Saltsman of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Susan (Fred) Husband of Mercer and Sandy (Donald) Dillon-Dick of Richmond, Kentucky; one brother, William R. Dillon, Jr., Harrisville  and his companion, DeAnn Maurer; and eight nieces and nephews: William R. (Katie) Dillon III of Slippery Rock, Jessica Cox of Supply, North Carolina, Mehan McGhee and her significant other, Micah Feather of Elkins, West Virginia, Samantha Montesano of Greenville, Katelyn (Adam) Roth of Altoona, Nicole (Art) Amos of Mercer, Michelle (Matt) Hauger of Hermitage, and Charles Leroy Burk, Jr. of Mercer. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, James Robert Dillon, Jr.

At James’s request, his family will honor his life privately. No public services are scheduled.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fredonia branch of Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 169 Second Street, Fredonia.
