Ilana Leigh McGonagle, Greenville, was embraced into the arms of God on Saturday, August 25, 2024, at the UPMC Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was seven years old.
She was born on July 20, 2017, in Farrell, the daughter of Charles E. and Jamie L. (Shirk) McGonagle. Ilana was to begin her second year of schooling at Greenville Elementary School, where her absence is already deeply felt. Ilana was full of life and love and truly a child of God. She would openly share her love of the Lord with others and enjoyed singing worship songs. She was passionate about all of God’s creation. Even in her short lifespan, she has touched many lives locally and afar. She was as pretty as a princess but was unafraid to get dirty like the boys and loved anything Unicorn.
She is survived by her father, Charles E. McGonagle, Greenville; her mother, Jamie L. McGonagle, and her significant other, Mike Duttry, Greenville; her brothers, Ayden McGonagle, Greenville, and Brodie and Blake Duttry, Hadley; her grandparents, Tom (Marsha) Shirk, New Castle; Norma Shirk, Ellwood City; Mary Calladine, Greenville, and Robert (Kim) Yeany, Hadley; and her great grandmother, Barb Kenn, New Castle. Aunts and Uncles, Mary Beth (Jacob) Smith, Greenville, April (Bret) McDanel, New Castle, Cori (Ricky) McCune, Ellwood City, Tomiann (Nunzio) Lombardozzi, Ellwood City, Neal Shirk and his companion, Megan Hesser, West Middlesex, Nick Shirk and his fiancé, Kaitlinn Shankle, Sharon, Patric McGonagle, Tampa, FL and Dalynn McGonagle, Greenville and her cousins, David, Mark, Rykel, Roy, Marissa, Ryan, Lilliana, Gaige, Kaleigha, Rowan, Ellie, Tyler, Erika, Nathaniel, Kristin, Ali, Brooke, Alina and Jayla.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dale Patrick McGonagle, grandmother, Lil Dillen, great-grandfather, Thomas Shirk, Great-Uncle, Jamie Shirk, and Aunt Erla.
Even in her death, Ilana was a giver of life through the generous gift of her heart going to a 5-year-old girl and three other recipients of her liver and kidneys and the research that will be done.
A Celebration of Life for Ilana will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Bethel Life Worship Center, 246 S Mercer St, Greenville, with Pastor Kent Bell officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.snyderfh.com
