Harleen Ann Thomas, of Sandy Lake, left us quietly on Saturday, February 22, 2025, as a result of complications of a stroke. She was 76.
Harleen was born in Grove City, PA, on December 12, 1948, to the late Harry R. and Eileen (Kilgore) Peterson. She was a 1967 Lakeview High School graduate and had worked at McKean’s Golden Dawn and Mercer County State Bank, retiring from there in 2014. On May 22, 1970, she married Richard Thomas, and they’ve shared 54 years together.
Harleen enjoyed traveling, crafts and her pets. She could be found tending to her flowers and gardens in the summer and her jig saw puzzles in the winter. Most of all, she loved the visits from the great-grandkids; they could do no wrong.
Left to cherish her memory along with her husband, is a daughter, Karen (Mike) Patton of Grove City; two granddaughters, Megan (Andy) Gilliland of Dandridge, TN and Barbie (Dylan) Thomas of Rockland, PA; six great-grandchildren, “the boys”, Andrew, Ben and Corbin Gilliland and “the girls” Evalynn Gilliland and Isabelle and Carmon Thomas; three brothers, Floyd (Karen) Peterson, Summerville, SC, Scott Peterson, NC, and Jeff (Robin) Peterson, Jacksonville, FL and a sister in law, Cheryl Peterson, Greenville, NC. She has also left behind a great number of Kilgore cousins.
Those that went before her are her parents, her brother, Bruce Peterson, and a great grandson, Dominic Gilliland.
In lieu of flowers, donate some time or money to your favorite charity and plant a flower bed this spring in her memory. She would like that.
Family and friends may call at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville, on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 7:00-9:00 pm. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
