He was born on the family homestead in Spring Twp. on May 17, 1934, a son of the late Frank M. and Dorothy E. (Moses) Field.  He was a 1952 graduate of the former Conneautville High School.  Following graduation, Fred went onto served dutifully and honorably with the US Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany and France.  Following his military service, he returned to the family farm which he had farmed with his father and brother Homer, soon after he was joined by his sons.  Fred had hauled milk for area farmers to Adamsville and later to Andover, OH.  He continued to milk his dairy cows and operate the family farm until he was 80 years old.  His farm was his pride and joy and he was proud of the family history. He was a lifetime member of the Conneautville American Legion, Post 615 and the National Farmers Organization (NFO).

On March 29, 1958, Fred married his wife of 63 years, the former Patricia Orr who he had met at a square dance.

In addition to his wife, Patricia; he is survived by four sons, Fred A. Field II, Frank L. (Shelby) Field, Glenn A. (Denise) Field and Jason P. Field; his grandchildren, Fred A. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Charles and Marjory Field, Leona and Luther Davis, Rodney and Lillian Field, Betty and Dave Krieder, Frank “Homer” Field and Joann Zimmer.

Among the many things that Fred loved, was bowling with his friends, Stan Zimmer, Bob Welcheck, Bob Nelson and Smitty.  He enjoyed his farm, talking with farmer and strangers alike, the Ford 5000 tractor, Polka music, The Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, Wrigley’s double mint gum, chocolate candy, Red Man, his old worn barn coat and boots.  He appreciated people who were honest in their dealing and is remembered by his wife as the most honest man she has ever known. He loved Bill O’Reilly, Donald Trump and was a devout Republican.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, August 13, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Rundell Cemetery, Rundelltown Road, Conneautville where he will be laid to rest with military honors.
