Franklin L. Black, Fredonia (Delaware Twp.) passed away early Thursday morning, March 11, 2021 at the Sharon Regional Health System. He was 83.
He was born in Mercer, on October 28, 1937 a son of the late Harry D. and Dorothy Mae (Menzi) Black. On Sept. 27, 1958 he married the former Janet G. Breese who survives. Frank had been a life long farmer, farming the family farm, he was a hard worker and provider for his family. Frank had been employed by National Castings and the went onto be employed by PPG, Plant 8, Meadville retiring in 2000. Following his retirement, he worked for McCartney’s Feed Mill and Lakeview Fertilizer.
In addition to his wife Janet, he is survived by a son, Dale Black and his companion, Susan Crispen, Fredonia; two daughters, Diana Black and her companion Pete Mathieson, Jackson Center and Alice Aley and her husband Lonnie, Fredonia; three brothers, John William Black and his wife Darlene, Justin, TX, Carl R. Black, Dubois and Clifford L. Black and his wife Bette, Fredonia; a sister, Maxine Clark and her husband Richard, Fredonia, 7 grandchildren, Lucas Fisher, Jennifer Fisher, Samantha Taranto, Harry Franklin Black, Thomas Black, Ken Sauer and Tiffany Sauer and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Anita Sauer; a grandson, Jonathan Fisher; 3 brothers, Donald Black, Kenneth Black and Howard Black.
For those comfortable in attending the family will receive family and friends on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia. The funeral service will be held on Monday at the funeral home at 11:00 am with the Rev. Eric M. Peters, officiating. The wearing of facial masks and respecting of social distancing is encouraged. Frank will be laid to rest at the Millbank Cemetery.
