Evalyn Jane (Moore) Rhodes

Local artist Evalyn Jane Rhodes went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2021. She was 99. 

Jane was born on October 25, 1921 to J. Clair & Edna (Page) Moore.  She attended Grove City College and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  She married her husband Robert E. Rhodes, Sr. on January 7, 1944 and they made Fredonia, PA their lifetime home. 

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert E. Rhodes, Sr., her sister Betty Moore and her son, Gary Rhodes of Fredonia, PA.  Jane is survived by two sons Robert E. Rhodes, Jr, (Sharen) Kane, PA and John Rhodes (Jacqueline) of Iron Station, NC, one daughter, Letitia Rhodes of Greenville, SC, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two nieces Martha Blair and Nancy Miller of Union City, PA. 

Jane was an active and lifetime member of the Fredonia, Presbyterian Church and a talented artist.  Jane is known for her paintings of historic buildings from Fredonia’s past, her work with stained glass (some of which can still be seen at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church), her engraved glassware, and her designed and painted wood products. She also published two calendars highlighting her paintings from Fredonia’s past. At the age of 95 she applied for and was granted a U.S. Patent.    

Jane completed her bucket list at the age of 90 which included a motor cycle ride. 

Funeral service:  1:00 pm on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, Water Street, Fredonia.

Interment:  She will be laid to rest next to her husband Millbank Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm time of service.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www. snyderfh.com.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Robert L.
