Esther C. Hostetler, Cochranton (Fairfield Twp.) passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, February 23, 2020 at the Meadville Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was 90.
She was born in Hartville, Ohio on June 13, 1929 a daughter of the late Christ D. and Katie (Sommers) Troyer. On June 26, 1948 she married Elmer H. Hostetler who had preceded her in death on July 13, 2007. Esther was a homemaker and in addition to raising her children would often be found assisting with the daily chores of the family dairy farm in Deer Creek Twp. which they operated for over 40 years. She was a member a faithful and charted member of the Pleasantview Conservative Mennonite Church, Cochranton.
She is survived by 4 sons, William Henry (Sharon) Hostetler, Auburn, Ky., Lloyd (Sarah)Hostetler, Goshen, Indiana, John (Marilyn) Hostetler, Auburn, Ky and Elmer (Sylvia) Hostetler, Jr., Hadley, 4 daughters: Pauline (Eugene) Marner, Cochranton, Fannie “Tootz” (Joe) Schlabach, Cochranton, Sarah (Henry) Shetler , Cochranton and Judy (J.R.) Byler, Meadville.; Three half sisters, Judy Hochstetler, Blue River, Wisconsin, Edith (Eli) Byler, Ashland, Ohio and Fannie(Floyd) Beachy, Chesterhill, Ohio; 1 half brother; Benjamin C. (Mary) Troyer, Virginia; 41 grandchildren and 96 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years; her step mother, Judy (Hochstetler) Troyer; 3 brothers; 2 half brothers; 3 sisters and 4 half sisters.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Pleasantview Conservative Mennonite Church, 3488 County Line Road, Cochranton with Ministers Elmer Hostetler, Jr., Nate Miller and John Hostetler officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Pleasantview Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday (2/25/20) from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
