Erla Jean King, Greenville, Perry Twp., passed away Saturday afternoon, January 7, 2023, at the Heritage at St. Paul’s Home, Greenville. She was 83.
She was born in Transfer on November 9, 1939, a daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Patterson) Bromley. She was a 1958 graduate of Lakeview High School. On June 10, 1961, she married Lawrence E. King who preceded her in death on January 30, 2015. Mrs. King was foremost a homemaker, raising her 4 sons, she also had done secretarial work at various doctor’s offices and for Brownies Oil Company, Greenville from where she had retired. She was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Christian Church, formerly known as the Carpenters Corners Church of Christ, where she was very active in the music ministry of the church, playing the organ and the piano, singing in the choir, and also participating in the Lady’s Missionary Group. Mrs. King cherished the times she could be with her grandchildren, she enjoyed camping with her husband, visiting lighthouses at various destinations, and socializing with her family and friends.
She is survived by her 4 sons, Bruce (Susan) King, Saegertown, Douglas (Katina) King, Niles, OH, Darren (Carla) King, Hadley, and Roger (Sarah) King, Greenville; two sisters, Doris Fisher, Espyville and Nancy Baker, Fredonia; two brothers, John Bromley, Fredonia and Lloyd (Judy) Bromley, Mercer; her 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Joel, Domnick, Mitchell, Zackery, Andrew, Jonathan, Lareina, Haley, Katie, and Deasha; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Lawrence.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Emmanuel Christian Church, 4495 Greenville Sandy Lake Road, Stoneboro. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, and Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 AM. Mrs. King will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Hadley Cemetery.
