Ellery Arthur Matti

Ellery Arthur Matti, Greenville, Sugar Grove Twp. passed away in the comfort of his home on Saturday, March 1, 2025.  He was 72.

He was born in Canton, OH, on September 21, 1952, a son of the late Orland Arthur and Norma Elizabeth (Villers) Matti.  Mr. Matti served proudly and honorably with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany.  He began his working career sweeping floors at Virgil’s in Ohio.  He then went on to work in the construction field, where he was a ‘jack of all trades” actively involved in all aspects of construction.  In 1983, Ellery became disabled due to MS; he then picked up the hobby of woodworking and would do small projects that would be sold at craft shows. 

On August 25, 1978, he married the former Catherine Irene Cadman, who preceded him in death on October 17, 2023.

He is survived by his children, Traci (Eric) Hanna, Cranberry, Lori Scott, Los Angeles, CA, Jason Matti, Lowellville, OH, and Sherry (Jeff) Deeter, Warren, OH; two brothers, Henry Matti, Conneaut Lake, and Dana Matti, Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Tyler MacNeil and Ryan Hanna, twins Kayla and Kelsey Hanna, Aurora Matti and Brianna Deeter, and a great-granddaughter, Shay MacNeil.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Catherine, a son, Stephen Matti, and two brothers, Leonard and Richard Matti.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at a time to be announced, at the North Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church, Osborn Road, Greenville, with Rev. Michael D. Marshall officiating. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.
