Elizabeth Ann Wood

Elizabeth Ann Wood, known as Aunt Liz, Liz, and Lizzy, died peacefully on June 21, 2025, after a lifelong battle with diabetes.

Liz was born in Greenville on March 21, 1950, and was one of ten children. Her siblings were Richard, Clifford, Merle, Frank, Kate, Betty, John, Shirley, and Debbie.

She eventually married Merle Wood and settled with him in Geneva, PA.

Liz was a very popular cook at Mama Bear's Restaurant in Conneaut Lake where she was employed for nearly two decades. She made lifelong friends at “The Bear's” and had fond memories of her time there. Former customers still ask about her to this day.

She enjoyed anything having to do with puzzles and was often spotted “glued” to a word search or a crossword book. She played games on her cell phone as well. Liz also loved assembling jigsaw puzzles with her friends at her apartment complex in Greenville, PA. She also enjoyed playing the lottery and catching a game of bingo when she could.

When she was able to get around better, she liked being in the great outdoors. Liz, on occasion, would even get conned into going camping, which she did enjoy in the end. She adored thunderstorms and would have no problem sitting on a porch as one was approaching, whilst others dashed inside for cover.

In addition to the above-mentioned, she lived for carrying out food prep work and would gladly peel and chop veggies for holiday meals without objection. She enjoyed making dinner for others and will be remembered for her wonderful old-fashioned home-cooking.

Liz was a low-maintenance type of person and possessed a calming nature. One of the only exceptions to the rule was when the Pittsburgh Steelers were playing and were behind in points.

She also loved taking road trips and often talked about when she, her sister Betty and nephew Raph headed to California decades ago. Liz was up for most anything and went along for the ride both figuratively and literally.

Liz loved animals and children and was very close to her many nieces and nephews. She had a special relationship with her nephews Raph and Terry.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Richard, Clifford, Merle, and John, and her sisters Kate, Betty, and Shirley.

Survivors, in addition to a plethora of nieces, nephews, and cousins, include a sister, Debbie, and a brother, Frank. She is also survived by Joel, Lisa, Spencer, and Katie, who considered her to be a part of their extended family.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 25, from 4 until 7 at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Highway in Sheakleyville. A 7pm service will follow the calling hours. Her burial will take place at Hadley Cemetery at 10 on Thursday morning.
