Edward A. Gilliand

Edward A. Gilliand, Meadville, Vernon Twp. passed away Friday afternoon, August 29, 2025, at the St. Vincent Health Center, Erie.  He was 87.

He was born on May 9, 1938, the son of the late George A. and Cleo J. (Walters) Gilliand. He was a 1956 graduate of Meadville High School. He had been employed by the First National Bank in Meadville and then went on to work for Dad’s Dog Food until his retirement in 2000.  On June 11, 1977, he married the former C. Jane McQuiston, who survives. Ed was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Meadville and, over the years, enjoyed golfing, attending both local and collegiate sporting events, maintaining his home, and, above all, cherishing the times he shared with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Susan L. Beers, Meadville, and George (Diane) Boyles, Cochranton, a sister, M. Jean Keller, Stow, OH, a daughter-in-law, Edie Linz, California, PA., and a sister-in-law, Claudia Gilliand, Meadville. Three grandchildren, Tyler Beers, Weston Beers, and Jessica Boyles Tucker, and four great-grandchildren, Steven and Tabitha Tucker and Leo and Colt Beers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John R. “Gig” Boyles, a brother, Richard Gilliand, and a sister, M. Jean Keller

Ed will be laid to rest at the Cochranton Cemetery with private family services.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.  Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.snyderfh.com
