Douglas J. Haggerty, Hadley, Sandy Creek Twp. passed away unexpectedly from natural causes at his residence on Wednesday evening, December 3, 2025. He was 50.
He was born on December 4, 1974, the son of John H. and Evalina M. (Smith) Haggerty. He was a 1992 graduate of Greenville High School and was employed by Parker Lord Company, Saegertown.
Doug's love for the great outdoors was evident to all who knew him. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy and solace in deer and turkey hunting and exploring nature's bounty on his 4-wheeler. His passion for adventure led him to spend countless cherished moments at the family camp in Venus, where he could immerse himself in the beauty of nature and the companionship of those he held dear. He enjoyed tractor pulling along side his stepfather, Robert Laver, and together they would annually attend the Pennsylvania Farm Show.
As a member of the Fryburg Sportsmen's Club and the Clarion County Rod and Gun Club, Doug not only pursued his own interests but also contributed to the conservation and enjoyment of the natural environment for others.
He was also a member of the Hickory VFW Post # 6166, and the Fredonia American Legion Post #919. He had served on the Sheakleyville Cemetery Board and where he was the current president.
Left to cherish his memory are his father, John H. (Patricia L.) Haggerty, Clark; his mother, Evalina M. Laver, Greenville; two sisters, Lisa Haggerty, Sharpsville, and Eiron (Russell) Smith, Hammondsport, NY, and a brother, Darren (Anette) Haggerty, Gibsonia; 4 nieces and nephews, Henry Haggerty and Madeline Haggerty, Gibsonia, and Whitney and Bradley Smith, Hammondsport, NY.
Doug was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert N. Laver, and a brother, Craig Haggerty.
The funeral service celebrating Doug's life will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville, with Pastor Michael Holley of the Clarks Mills Community Church officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 2:00 pm to 4:00 PM.
