Dorothy M. McCurdy, Greenville, formerly of Fredonia passed away early Thursday morning, May 16, 2024 at the UPMC Jameson, New Castle. She was 91.
She was born in Grove City on June 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Louis and Olive (King) Black. On February 11, 1950, she married John Edward McCurdy who preceded her in death on August 30, 1989. Dorothy was a homemaker and utilizing her green thumb skills, she had also worked at Kehlbeck’s Greenhouses. She was a member of the Fairview Quilting Club. She loved to bake and enjoyed passing her baking skills on to family members of all ages.
She is survived by her children, Carol (Ronald) Eckner, Cleveland, OH, Larry (Cathy) McCurdy, Jamestown, Susan (Jeff) Lewis, Fredonia and Cindy (Mike) Cullen, Greenville; four sisters, Joan Patterson, Fredonia, Roberta (Conrad) Six, Harrisburg, Sherry (Glenn) Kasbee, Fresno, CA and Patty Corbett, Grove City; 9 grandchildren, James (JT) Eckner, Megan Rodney, Jason McCurdy, Jermey McCurdy, Shannon Rekich, Shawn McCurdy, Jennifer Maloney, Shaine Lewis and Michelle Kilgore and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 5 brothers, James Black, Clarence Black, Glenn Black, Robert Black, and Gene Black.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 11:00 Am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 169 Second Street, Fredonia with Rev. Eric M. Peters, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Millbank Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
