Donald Stright Obituary

 

Donald A. Stright, Hadley (Perry Twp.) passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 23, 2019 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.  He was 84.

 

He was born on August 3, 1934 a son of the late James Arthur “Art’ and Alice Adeline (Williams) Stright. He had graduated from the Cochranton High School. On October 14, 1961 he married the former Shirley A. King who survives.  Don had begun his working career as a young man working at the former Fishers Feed Mill, Sheakleyville, He then went onto work for 30 years at the former Chicago Bridge and Iron and then as a truck driver for Angstrom Trucking and later Bruce Earle Trucking.  In his retirement years he enjoyed working for ADESA, Mercer.  He was an avid reader with an interest in westerns and enjoyed seeing the many birds that were attracted to his feeders.  He had a love for Farmal Tractors and memorabilia.  In his younger years he was an avid hunter.  He was a member of the Perry Baptist Church. In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by two daughters, Melanie (Raymond) Haggard, Mercer and Michele R. Smith, Wellington, FL; a brother, Wayne (Deanna) Stright, Sheakleyville; two sisters, Jayne (Roland) Jacobs, Cochranton, Linda (Chester) Harsh, Sheaklevyille; a sister in law, Pat Stright, Sheakleyville; three grandchildren, Grace I.T. Haggard, Grant A. Haggard and Preston H. Smith, IV.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Holly Lynn; a sister, Margaret Thompson; a brother, Keith E. Stright and a son in law, Preston H. Smith III.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. James Sodano, pastor of the Perry Baptist Church officiating.  The interment with committal prayers will follow at the Hadley Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 t0 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm and are may share memories and condolences online at www.snyderfh.com
