Dean C. Gosnell, Greenville/Kennard, Sugar Grove Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, after bravely battling Multiple Sclerosis for over seven years. Dean was 56.
He was born in Warren, Ohio on August 18, 1969, the son of George C. and Debra (Evans) Gosnell.
Dean was a 1987 graduate of Joseph Badger High School, Kinsman, Ohio. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably for six years as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, including several years overseas in Guyana, South America, where he guarded the US Embassy.
On October 12, 2001, he married Teresa (Walker) Gosnell. Dean was the proud owner and operator of Gosnell’s Tree Service, a business he built from the ground up into a successful enterprise that reflected his strong work ethic and determination. He also faithfully served the community as an elected Supervisor for Sugar Grove Township.
Dean had a deep passion for farming and was an avid hunter and trapper. His farm is among one of his greatest accomplishments. He raised livestock, with beef cattle being his favorite, maintained numerous honeybee hives from which he bottled and sold honey, and produced maple syrup. Dean never did anything on a small scale and lived by his motto, “Go Big or Go Home.” His loyal black lab, “Star,” was his constant companion and rarely left his side.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Teresa of Greenville; his parents, George C. and Debbie Gosnell of Cortland, Ohio; his son, Brandon Gosnell of Greenville; his sister, Melissa (Tim) Montgomery of Austintown, Ohio; and Tina Yeager of Hartford, Ohio, whom Dean considered a sister. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Carol Walker of Greenville; six nieces and nephews, Chavis (Madison) Montgomery, Evan Montgomery, Alaina Montgomery, Colten Burdick, Lexie Burdick, and Lucas Burdick; and bonus niece and nephew, Tepler Shilling and Shauna (Shilling) Keegan.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Eugene G. Walker.
Private family services will be held at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, with Karl Rupert officiating. Dean will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Hadley Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the funeral home from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
