David Paul “Mitch” Mitchell, Greenville passed away early Saturday morning, January 6, 2024, in the comfort of his home with his wife and niece, Jennifer Rhoads by his side following a four-year courageous battle with cancer.  He was 67.

He was born in Greenville on September 7, 1956, a son of the late Lester and Jackie (Johnston) Mitchell.  On June 7, 1981, he married his wife of 42 years, the former Linda Higbee who survives.  Mitch as he was known to his family and friends was a 1974 graduate of Reynolds High School, a 1995 graduate of New Castle School of Trades where he received an associate degree in Electrical Technologies.  Through the years, he had been employed by the former Jamesway, Sharon Steel, Components Technologies, Nittany Coatings and most recently at Diversified Family Service, Hermitage until having been disabled with his illness.  He was affiliated with Bethel Life Church, Greenville.

David was an avid bowler through the years at the Reynolds Lanes and Celebrity Bowling, he was a very staunch supporter and fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed watching little league baseball games, the Thiel College Baseball teams and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

He is survived by his wife Linda; three children, Tiffany (Luis) Fernandez, Fort Meade, Md., Crystal McPeak, Hermitage and Trevor (Allyson) Mitchell, Austintown, OH; a lifelong friend, Scott Allen, Greenville; 5 grandchildren, Edward, Lilliana, Noah, Liam and Winnie.

David was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gary Mitchell, a sister in-law, Gwynne Higbee, his mother and father-in-law, Bill and Jean Higbee and a son in law, Shawn McPeak.

A Celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Bethel Life Worship Center, 246 S. Mercer Street, Greenville with Pastor Jim Fleck officiating.  A period of visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at
