David Earl “Jr.” Miller, 70, of Cherryville, N.C., formerly of Cochranton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Atrium Health - Lincoln, Lincolnton, N.C.
Jr., as he was affectionally known to his friends and family, was born in Sandy Lake on October 4, 1954, a son of the late David Eugene and Clara (Troyer) Miller. He was a retired truck driver and had a passion for bluegrass music, and was a talented singer/songwriter and guitar picker. He played with the Wildwood Express for forty years until their retirement in 2022. He also had his own group, Jr. Miller and the Bluegrass Cutup. He was an avid pool player and had played on several local teams. He also loved softball, having played and coached several local teams.
Jr. Loved and cherished his children and grandchildren. They enjoyed picking and singing together as a family. He was a member of the Sunnyside Mennonite Church in Conneaut Lake and attended the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville, NC.
Jr.'s legacy continues through his beloved children, Marvin Miller and his wife, Keri, of Cherryville, NC; Carol Thibault and her husband, Jason, of Atlantic; and Melissa White and her husband, Adam, of Lincolnton, NC. His four grandchildren, Sabrina Reese, Zachary Locke, Blaine, and Katie Thibault. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Beachy, of Sandy Lake; two brothers, William Miller of Hadley and Lester Miller of Sandy Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews who held a very special place in Jr.'s heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the 19 North Community Church, 4158 Rt 19, Cochranton, with Elmer Hostetler, Jr. officiating.
The visitation will be held at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.snyderfh.com
