David R. Alexander, Fruitland Park, Florida formerly of Sandy Lake passed away unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, July 21, 2023, of natural causes. He was 75.
David was born in Butler on February 16, 1948, a son of the late David W. and Marilyn A. (Rose) Alexander. David was a 1966 graduate of Lakeview High School. He was an extremely talented self-taught designer, working in the floral and interior design fields. His vast knowledge of plants and flowers was impressive and enjoyed by everyone and he was always willing to share this knowledge. While residing in Florida, his talents were often sought by residents of the area to do seasonal decorating. Several of his works were featured in design magazines. He began working for the former Mercer Greenhouse where he developed a passion for all things plants, designing, and decorating, he relocated to Baltimore before returning to the area, and then in 2014, he moved to Florida to enjoy his retirement years. He was a very special and very much-loved Uncle to his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Throughout the years, wherever he resided, he had the opportunity to make many friends, whom he was very loyal and caring towards. In his retirement years, he enjoyed the loyalty and companionship of his dog, Rosie.
He leaves behind, three sisters, Susan L. Kaltenbaugh and her husband Ray, Sandy Lake, Cheryl R. Moose and her husband, Dan, Blaine, MN, and Debra E. Snyder and her husband Robert, Sheakleyville, 7 Nieces and nephews, Michelle (Jason) Mumford, Lisa (Brian) Janssen, Mark (Nina) Kaltenbaugh, Rebecca (Jason) Johnson, Elizabeth (Jason) Stacy, Sarah Willett , and David (Alexia) Snyder. Numerous great nieces and nephews, and a very good friend, Dan Lenzi, Fruitland Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Jared Robert Snyder.
A Time of remembrance and the celebration of Dave’s life will be held in the Fall of 2023.
He will be laid to rest at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake.
