David Homer Obituary

David B. Homer, 86, Greenville, Pymatuning Twp., went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, December 2, 2025 surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 13, 1939, in Redding, CA., the son of the late Louis H. and Lena Odetta (Cooley) Homer. He had been employed by the former GATX in Masury, OH, and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union.  Following his retirement, he worked on the family farm and for Wood’s Dairy Farm, Transfer. He was an active firefighter for many years with the West Salem Volunteer Fire Department and had previously served as a Pennsylvania State Constable.

In his younger years, he was a race car driver at the Sharon Speedway. He attended the Lakeside Evangelical Congregational Church, Transfer, and Bethel Life Worship Center, Greenville. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, valued the moments he shared with his family, and appreciated the friendship and camaraderie of his breakfast friends at the Paxton Restaurant, where he often frequented. David loved to tinker with tractors and trucks and gardening was one of his hobbies.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, David J. “DJ” Homer, Greenville, Christine Craigo, Greenville, Denise Darling, San Diego, CA, James Homer (Gidget), Masury, OH, and Rosanna Homer, Greenville; two brothers, Paul Homer, Transfer, and Edwin “Rocky” Homer (Margaret), Transfer; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sharon Calvin, a brother, Larry Homer, and a granddaughter, Brooke Homer.

A Celebration of the life of David will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Bethel Life Worship Center, 246 S. Mercer Street, Greenville, with Pastor Kent Bell and Pastor Janor Bestwick officiating.  The visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
