Darrell Rose Obituary

Darrell William Rose, 85 of Stoneboro, PA, entered his eternal rest, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s, on Sunday, February 26th with his family by his side. Darrell was born on December 14, 1937, in Grove City to George and Mabel (Reichard) Rose. Darrell grew up on the family farm and enjoyed the life that comes with it including hunting and fishing. He attended the old Stoneboro High School and the current Lakeview High School and graduated in 1955. Darrell married Helen Marie Alexander on March 27, 1959.

In his early years of work, he worked at Valley Notion and Greenville Tubes. For most of his life, however, he worked two jobs every day.  Some of those jobs included; driving a fuel truck, and carpentry work and perhaps Darrell was known best for his excellent work in the plumbing and heating profession.  He also took great pride in his work installing Kitchens and Baths for Buchanan Kitchen and Bath for over 30 years.

Darrell loved to camp. In the late 1960’s he joined his brother-in-law Jim Engstrom and several other families in carving out a beautiful campground near Carlton, PA. call CREW-M Camp.  Many summers were spent there with family and friends. He also enjoyed elk hunting and the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and made several trips to Colorado in the early 1990s.

Darrell made many life decisions, but his most important one was when we accepted Christ as his personal Savior in the late 1960s. He was all in concerning his relationship with Christ and became a faithful church member, board member, and trustee at the Oak Grove church for nearly 60 years. Darrell was not only active in the church as a Sunday School teacher, but his hands were instrumental in building the church we are in today.

Between 1974-1980 Darrell gave hundreds of hours to help build the addition on the Stoneboro Wesleyan School installing the heating system and served for several years on the school board. In his retirement years, he enjoyed serving others and volunteered with Men with a Vision. He also was a caretaker of the Oak Grove Cemetery for several decades.

He was a very gifted carpenter and helped build many garages and homes for family and friends. He served the less fortunate and widows throughout his life.

Darrell is survived by his wife Helen of 64 years and their four children: David (Brenda) Rose, Leesburg, FL, Brian (Debbie) Rose, Orlando, FL, Debbie (Chuck) Brown, Corydon, IN, Karen (Bill) Leyda, Lanexa, VA.
