Cheryl Greaves Obituary

Cheryl Ann Burkhart Greaves, a radiant soul whose laughter and love were as boundless as the skies above her cherished Grove City, PA, embarked on her final adventure on November 23, 2025. She took her leave in the peaceful town of Greenville, PA, after a valiant dance with cancer, a battle she faced with unwavering courage and an ever-present smile.

Born on January 21, 1958, to the loving James and Patricia Reeher Burkhart, Cheryl, as she was affectionately known, was a spirited light from the start. Her brothers, Norman "Butch" and Thomas Burkhart, shared in the delightful chaos and joy of growing up with her. Cheryl's zest for life only flourished as she became the proud mother to Joshua Greaves and Tricia Matzel, and mother-in-law to the devoted Jeffrey Matzel. Her legacy continued to blossom with the giggles and footsteps of her grandchildren, Evan, Jace, Trenton, and Jules. Donald, her ex-husband, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all bear testament to the love she so freely gave.

A graduate of Mercer High School class of '76, Cheryl's intellectual curiosity was as much a part of her as her infectious chuckle. She said goodbye to the hallways of academia to weave her own path in the world. For 15 years, she was a valued team member at Ivex, and for another decade, she brought warmth and dedication to Country Fair. Her colleagues not only found a co-worker in Cheryl but a true friend and a beacon of light-hearted wisdom.

Spirituality was the compass that guided Cheryl's journey through life. It was a path paved with joyous laughter, much like the kind that would bubble up when watching her favorite History channel. Whether she was breathing in the tranquility of the great outdoors or swaying to the rhythm of her beloved tunes, Cheryl lived each moment fully and authentically. Her heart was a sanctuary for her family and friends, whom she cherished above all else. Those who knew Cheryl would say she was loving, optimistic, and selfless—a trinity of traits that made her the heart's haven for many. She navigated life with a humor that could light up the darkest of rooms, reminding us, as the incomparable Groucho Marx once quipped, "I intend to live forever, or die trying." Cheryl lived not just for the joy of her own journey, but also to spread that joy to others.

As we bid farewell to Cheryl, let us not dwell in the valleys of our sorrow, but rather climb the heights of gratitude for the time we shared with her. She left us as she lived, with a smile on her face and warmth in her heart, a true embodiment of the Spirit that now carries her forward. Her laughter echoes in our memories, her love lives on in our hearts, and her spirit—forever optimistic—soars high, untethered and free. Cheryl Ann Burkhart Greaves, you colored our world with your humor and heart.

Your legacy is one of laughter, love, and the selfless touch of a soul who truly knew how to live. May your journey onward be as joyous as the life you shared with us all.
