Carl Freeman Randall, Meadville, West Mead Twp.) passed away at 12:45 AM, Sunday, January 26, 2025, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, surrounded by his family. He was 79.
Born on October 1, 1945, in Gouverneur, NY, Carl was the eldest of nine children to the late Carl McLeod and Barbara Eloise (Freeman) Randall. He attended Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY, where he earned an associate degree in accounting, laying the foundation for his future successes. Carl's sense of duty extended beyond his personal ambitions. He served honorably with the US Army during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where he achieved his bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Professionally, Carl dedicated many years to the University of Colorado Boulder, culminating in his retirement in September 2000 as the Director of Central Payroll.
A lifelong bowler, he cherished the opportunity to participate in the ABC National tournaments for 48 years, a tradition he enjoyed alongside family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing pool and later became an avid golfer. He enjoyed big game hunting, focusing mainly on Elk, and enjoyed the many opportunities to fish alongside his father-in-law.
Above all, Carl loved and appreciated his family and many friends.
In addition to his wife, the former LaRayne Johnston Herrington, whom he married on April 18, 1984, he is survived by his children, Todd (Cheryl) Herrington, Surf City, NC, and Kimberly Hyde, Atlantic; seven siblings, Carol (Gene) Bigarel, Gouverneur, NY, Deborah Mary Randall, Albuquerque, NM, Clarina Louise Krause, Boulder, CO, Sarah Ruth Martinez, Albuquerque, NM, Paul Arthur (Debbie) Randall, Arvada, CO, Bruce Oswald (Rotha) Randall, Arvada, CO and Michele Catherine (Albert) Montoya, Cuba, NM; a sister in law, Donna (David) Evans, LaGrande, OR, three grandchildren, Nathan Herrington, Lexie Herrington and Darrin (Julie) Hyde and two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Nolan Hyde and numerous, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donovan Joseph Randall.
A Celebration of Carl's life will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Watson Run Church, 13158 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake. The time will be announced.
