Beverly J. (Leonard) Knapp

Beverly J. Knapp, Greenville formerly of Fairview Twp. passed away Friday morning, September 15, 2023, at the Villas at St. Paul’s Senior Living where she had been residing.  She was 87.  

She was born in Greenville on March 15, 1936, a daughter of the late Merle and Edith (Brett) Leonard.  On September 22, 1956, she married Robert L. Knapp who preceded her in death on October 20, 2003.  She had been employed as a hairdresser at the St. Paul’s Home and was a member of the Fairview Friendship Club and the Fredonia Presbyterian Church. 

Mrs. Knapp was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed singing hymns and adorable songs to her children and two generations of grandchildren who she loved “a bushel and a peck.” In her prime, she preserved food to feed her family, trained her daughters for adult life, and enjoyed crafting quilts for loved ones. In later years and with failing vision, she generously volunteered her time at church and St. Paul’s. She remarkably could find her way around a loom to knit premie-baby hats for donation and spy hummingbirds. She took advantage of opportunities for trips and travel as often as she could.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl A. Pearce, Conneaut Lake, Sandra L. (William) Ruble, Alexandria, VA, and Linda J. (Richard) Mohar, Burton, OH.; a brother, Delbert Leonard, Cary, NC; two sisters, Geraldine Dick, Greenville, and Peggy McElwain, Woodstock, GA; 5 grandchildren, Joshua (Rhonda) Pearce, Kinsman, OH, Daniel (Tonia) Pearce, Springboro, James (Ashley) Ruble, Erwin, NC, April Ruble, Raleigh, NC, and Nathan Mohar serving with the US Navy, Norfolk, VA, and 4 great-grandchildren, Taylor Heilman, Gracie Pearce, Jenna Pearce, and Greyson Ruble, and many nieces and nephews of the Leonard and Knapp families.

Mrs. Knapp was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, a brother, Robert Leonard, and a sister, Georgine Burt. 

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 24 Water Street, Fredonia with Rev. Eric M. Peters officiating.  The funeral service will be live-streamed at www.snyderfh.com   Beverly will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Oak Grove Cemetery.  Family and friends will be received at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 169 Second Street, Fredonia on Friday, September 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 PM.
